Lots of you want to know what ingredients we use at Gordon’s Pepper Company. Our labels show four or five ingredients, but does not tell about the different varieties and sizes and shapes of the peppers we include. One of our blends uses five different sizes of black pepper, but the label just says ‘black pepper’. How we blend the different ingredients is our specialty. Our master pepper blender carefully mixes the right proportion of black pepper, red pepper, cracked pepper and ground peppers. Each blend was developed by tasting each ingredient by itself before adding or substituting for another ingredient in the blend. The blends were all developed after many taste tests. Our premier peppercorn blend called Peppercorn BLAST was developed by tasting each peppercorn to determine the final blend. Peppercorn BLAST uses only mature black peppercorns, including top grade Tellicherry peppercorns. Gordon’s Pepper Company sources its ingredients from the finest lands in the world. We will always strive to deliver to our valued customers the best ingredients for our products and blends.
It would take a journey of 18.000 miles or about 29,000 kilometers to gather the ingredients used for our pepper blends. The black pepper we use comes mainly from India. We love to use black pepper from the ancient spice capital of India. It is known as Tellicherry style pepper and has a remarkable pepper flavor desired for thousands of years. We also use high quality Malabar pepper so you always get great pepper taste. Our premier peppercorns blend uses the Tellicherry Special Extra Bold grade peppercorn for the most flavorful pepper taste. Next we blend in some of the finest chili peppers in the USA. Our chili pepper comes from well tended fields in the Rio Grande Valley growing the best New Mexico chilies under the sun. This is the area where the Hatch chili peppers are grown. The cayenne we use is an excellent variety from California with clean flavor and lots of ‘kick’. It adds heat and flavor at the same time. Our cayenne ’heat’ is usually about 60,000 Scoville units. Finally, we have used a sweet paprika from the old country in Hungary, the world’s classic place for paprika. We use the sweet variety that is a bit harder to get, but certainly adds to the unique Gordon’s Pepper taste. Each blend is a flavor packed experience for the kitchen table every day.
